Position Overview:
The Cover Supervisor is responsible for supervising classes during the absence of the regular teacher. This role ensures that pupils remain focused and engaged in their learning activities, maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences following provided lesson plans.
Manage pupil behavior, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment.
Support pupils with their work, providing guidance and encouragement as needed.
Maintain accurate records of attendance and behavior incidents.
Liaise with teaching staff to clarify lesson content and expectations.
Report any safeguarding concerns promptly to the designated safeguarding lead.
Assist with administrative tasks related to class supervision.
Person Specification
Qualifications:
Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
Previous experience working with children or young people is preferable.
Skills and Attributes:
Excellent classroom management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate and engage pupils of various ages and abilities.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
Flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
Basic IT skills to manage classroom resources and record keeping.
Personal Qualities:
Patient and understanding.
Professional and discreet with confidential information.
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to undertake training and professional development.
DBS clearance (or willingness to undergo).
